9/1/2023 0 Comments Idrive review youtube![]() ![]() One rep was very quick to offer me my money back as I suggested that IDrive might not suit my needs if I can only use this feature with Sync on. I asked if I can use the Cloud Sharing without Sync on because it was taking up the space on my computer (which I did not want). They also didn't seem to understand the IDrive product. I called twice and chatted once with IDrive's support and was met with snarky characters that had rude attitudes toward me. but I'd still like the option of more granularity.Ĭons: My main complaint is customer support. The advantage of this approach is simplicity, the disadvantage is a lack of flexibility. In the same way, all local files/folders are handled as a single backup set, again with no granularity. ![]() The only way to omit one would be to leave it unplugged. My understanding from the FAQ and help files, together with practical use of the system, is that all network/external drives are handled as a single backup set. For example - to set weekly backups for one external drive and daily backups for another. If backups are daily and no more frequent this shouldn't be an issue, but it could well cause problems (or at least confusion) if backups were more frequent.I would like to see more granularity in the backup scheduling. I'm on the other side of the world and it seems nonsensical for me to schedule a 9 am backup on the 10th of November (10/11/22) to find that the system records it as being made at 3 am on 11/10/22. My internet connection is capable of 90-100 MB/s and obviously it wasn't the bottleneck. When I had a minor problem the chat support on their website resolved it in seconds.Ĭons: All timings by the software use PST (Pacific Standard Time) and a US format timestamp. Searching further more I found that my hard drive had errors and I could corrected them. For short and medium transfers my upload speed transfer in Romania was 25-50 MB/s (megaBytes not mbs), but when I transfered 1.4 TB medium transfer speed was only 17MB/s. In a particular backup I spotted that a file wasn't transferred because of an error and when I verified I discovered that file was corrupted. After a job completion you'll receive a report and you can access a detailed log. If a file wasn't completely transferred because interruption, it will be resumed without a problem. I didn't feel the need to read any tutorial and I used the interface at once, from the first glance.I can interrupt the transfer at any time, the queued files or folders will be resumed when I need. Overall: I bought 5TB plan.I'm not a tech guy and for me the interface is very important and iDrive's interface is very intuitive and ease to use. The customer service has been great and it works really, really well. Being able to consolidate all of your information, all of your data, and put it into one place instead of having it scattered everywhere is such a bonus and it's easy. It'll take all of the muss and fuss out of trying to find out where all of your files are, where any important data is, and it's all in one place. You can actually even hand it over to an assistant and they can take care of it. If you are thinking about using IDrive, I really recommend it. It was there, and then I was able to drag everything onto it, and it worked perfectly. I got on the site, I downloaded the drive. I use it every day and all day.Īs a solopreneur and a CEO, I literally have tried so many different backup drives and so many different programs, and IDrive was so easy. To find out where the projects are that I need to work on and even duplicate or triplicate projects that need to be merged. It's like I'm consolidating all of my drives into IDrive and I use it daily to find where my duplicates are so I can de-dupe. ![]() I can either download it or see exactly the stream of which drive it's on and exactly where it's at, so I can find it so easily and then access it and use it or download it if I am somewhere and I need it and I'm not at my computer. I can access my files, I can see where the duplicates are and go in and change them. I have so many other external companies that I've been using that now I have been pulling it all into IDrive. I chose IDrive because it gave me the capability of not only just backing up my computer and my C Drive, but I have four external drives. Getting to my files was an act of, I don't know, is really challenging. Poor customer service, even when I did finally get through to somebody. They need support just to get me to download files. I have used so many other backup drives and either they were too difficult to use, the customer service was really, really lacking. ![]() My name is Sandy, and I am a CEO and I give IDrive a five. ![]()
